Formerly Just in Case Binder
Just in Case was born out of love. A husband was instructed by his doctors to get his affairs in order, due to a medical condition. He wanted to ensure that his wife knew and understood all necessary and important information for when he wouldn't be around. Together they gathered their wills, the family’s finances, and other essential matters into a binder. It was all in one place and easy to find.
When the time came to use this information, the family found that the advanced preparation and work had allowed them to spend quality time together, sharing memories rather than being burdened by searching for documents. The family also found they did not encounter stress from countless phone calls and hurried decisions and there was no need to second-guess their loved one's intentions because it was already written down.
The concept of a universal plan to help others organize their affairs in an unexpected death or emergency took root and Just in Case was created.
The Just in Case Binder was established by the late Harold Empey. In 2018, Elaine Lozinski joined Harold Empey’s quest in educating others on the benefits of final affair advanced planning, until Harold's retirement in 2019.
Elaine Lozinski is a Final Affair consultant, a lecturer and author who strives to bring clarity to the overwhelming world of final affairs. She is a Certified Executor Advisor (CEA) with the Canadian Institute of Certified Executor Advisors.
She uses a practical approach for getting affairs in order, for emergency, incapacity, end of life and other support needs while using her book, Just in Case: Final Affair Arrangements as the information resource. She lectures over western Canada delivering a widely popular seminar on final affairs.
A planner by nature, Elaine wanted to leverage her love of organization along with her desire to teach and help people prepare for “Just in Case”. Elaine’s ultimate goal is to educate, prepare and empower people to make their own decisions regarding their final affairs - before something happens.
Elaine lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and when she is not organizing for others she can usually be found at her cabin with her husband, dog and at least one of her six grown children.
The popularity of the Just in Case: Final Affair Arrangements booklet and the Just in Case: Final Affair Seminars have grown primarily from positive and encouraging endorsements of our customers. Many have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the information, indicating how much it has helped them in their lives and how they have found that the benefits of preplanning are endless.
